Book Review ~ ‘Stupid Girl’ by Cindy Miles ~ 5 Stars!

Stupid Girl was the ultimate emotional, romantic and eventually heart-warming read.

Olivia was the most relatable and root-able heroine that I have encountered for a long time in this genre, and after finishing the chill inducing prologue, I knew that I was going to be very invested in Liv’s story and her finding future happiness so as soon as bad-boy Brax came on the scene, I immediately charged him with the role of Olivia’s protector and adored seeing how his player ways began to fall away as he and Liv became closer.

There is nothing better in this genre than seeing a bad-boy, not being tamed, but making a willing change to become a different and better person in order to be with and protect the person that they care about, and Brax was the perfect hero for this novel, and is still on my mind weeks after I finished reading it. I think that fans of Jamie McGuire’s ‘Beautiful Disaster’ will adore this story, as Brax is well up there with Travis Maddox.

Olivia’s story is one that I know will be emotional and possibly hit-home to many of its readers, but the way that Cindy Miles has depicted Olivia’s trauma was done to absolute perfection and had me rooting for Olivia even more and more aware of the real-life similarities that Olivia’s trauma has in victim psychology. Through Brax, Miles gave a beautiful message in the way that he loved and reassured Olivia, making it clear to her that what happened to her was never her fault, and that there is no question that she was taken advantage of, no matter the circumstances.

There are so many elements that Cindy Miles included in this novel that just makes it so unique and memorable in the new-adult genre, and I can’t even express how wonderfully she created this story. The writing style was incredible, with gorgeous prose, humour, heart-break and hope all mixed together brilliantly shadowing Liv’s confused thoughts, and her uncertainty about her future. The pacing of the story was also done to perfection, and there wasn’t ever a moment where I felt the story was moving too fast. In this genre, I always feel that the romance can move a bit fast, with the characters falling in love in a day, but Cindy Miles timed Liv and Brax’s relationship development perfectly.

This was a stunning and mesmerising story which beautifully interweaves the stars, romance and healing into one incredible story that will stay with me for a long time.
