This affair will destroy them all.

This is a specially priced complete Girl Wife Prisoner box set.

Girl Wife Prisoner

Drake Blackwell is successful, controlling, and hiding a violent family past. He just made his latest investment: Noriko.

Imported from Japan and wed to a stranger, Noriko struggles to stick to the rules of a Good Wife. Drake can’t seem to love her, not the way she wants to be loved. She dreams of freedom beyond the gates of Blackwell Manor.

She meets Keir, a passionate young gardener who shares her desire to break free. He gets under her skin and ignites a fire in her she can’t ignore. In the midst of her quiet desperation she thinks she has found happiness. And a glimpse of hope.

But this affair can’t last…can it?

There is a darkness lingering, but not how you’d expect. There are monsters, but not as you usually know them. The truth is, in this story, no one is completely innocent. And it’s always darkest before the dawn.

Girl Wife Prisoner has a NEW cover for the Drake / Keir release.

Drake/Keir: Girl Wife Prisoner Retold
(Girl Wife Prisoner Novellas)

Screen Shot 2015-11-15 at 21.31.40

I am Drake Blackwell. Some call me a monster, a wicked husband, a terrible son. It’s so easy to vilify me, isn’t it?

But I’m not the cheater. I’m not the wife stealer.

Noriko was mine. She was my wife. I could have made her happy if it just wasn’t for him. That gardener boy will have his chance to tell you his side of the story.

Here’s the truth.

What if…

Noriko and I.

You already know our story. So you know how it ends. I’m sorry. Some things are irreversible.

But others things, things like dreams for example, are not. Dreams are fluid as water, as changeable as the memory of the dreamer. Perhaps, then, I may be given license to re-tell our story the way I dreamed it. The way it should have been…

This is Girl Wife Prisoner told from Keir and Drake’s alternative perspectives. Please finish Girl Wife Prisoner before reading this book as it contains spoilers.

WARNING: This is not your typical romance. For ages 18+. There are scenes in this novel that infer or allude to physical violence.

That was her name.

And now she was Noriko Blackwell. She was my Riko. My wife.

She was waiting for me beyond this door. I lifted my fist to knock and found I had to clear a tiny knot in my throat. Was I…nervous?

Ridiculous. Mr. Blackwell, CEO of Blackwell Industries, did not get nervous. I smoothed down my freshly washed hair and knocked.

I opened her door, stepped inside her bedroom and faced her fully to take in my first look at my wife.

She stood across the room, her fragile body precarious in a pair of towering heels, a black dress that hugged her tiny waist and skimmed over her slim hips. Her dark long hair framed her sweet face, her lashes cast down, her lips a natural pink.

“Mr. Blackwell,” she said, her voice as soft as falling snow.

“Please, call me Drake. Are they all treating you well?”

“Very well.”

“Good. Very good. Do you like it here?”

“I do, sir.”

Sir. She spoke to me like I was her teacher. “Noriko, you’re my wife. Call me Drake.”

“Yes, sir, I mean, Drake.”

“Come closer.”

She took several wobbly steps towards me, stopping just past halfway across the room. Not nearly close enough. I closed the gap between us in two strides, causing her to gasp.

Her onyx eyes, wide and pointed at the corners reminding me of a cat’s, caught my gaze before darting away to stare at the ground. Her mouth was a tightly closed rosebud and a pale pink color. She didn’t have any lipstick on. In fact, she was barely wearing any makeup, just a touch of mascara darkening her lashes. A natural beauty if I ever saw one. “You’re even more beautiful in real life.”

“Thank you.”

I lifted my finger to her cheek to feel her skin. Damn. She was softer than anything I had ever touched. A blush deepened under her pale skin. Was she this soft everywhere else? I traced down her neck and to her shoulder where I flicked off one shoulder strap, then the other.

Time to see exactly what I had acquired.

“Turn around.”

She obeyed. She smelled fresh, uncluttered by expensive perfumes that women usually wore like a cloud around them. Just a hint of coconut. Her shampoo, perhaps. I wanted to press my nose into her hair to make sure. But I restrained myself. I didn’t want to scare her any more than necessary.

I brushed her locks aside to access the opening of her dress. My cock hardened at the sound her zipper made as I drew it down. When I let go her dress dropped obediently to the floor.

“What?” she said, her voice curt and forced. “No veiled insult, no smirk or scowl for me?”

Her words stung me like a slap on the face. She was angry at me and I deserved it.

But she hadn’t let go of me. I stared down at our fingers laced together, such a contrast to her voice.

She was trying to push me away. She was doing what I had been trying to do these last few days. Why would she do that unless…

I looked back up to her. Our faces were so close that I could just make out where her dark pupils turn into irises. She was so lovely, like a painting that God did by hand. She was too lovely for me. Too lovely.

“Noriko, if I ever say anything to try to repulse you it’s only because…I’m scared of you.”

“Scared of me?”

“Yes.” My heart accelerated and my chest tightened. Now that I had started admitting things to her, I couldn’t stop. I couldn’t even think of stopping. I just felt. “Scared of how you make me feel things that I know I shouldn’t feel.” I wanted to kiss her perfect petal lips. I wanted to take them into my mouth and suck them softly. Would she like it? Would she moan for me? I moved closer to her, drawn by something more powerful than I could resist. She didn’t pull away. “And you make me want to do…things I shouldn’t do.”

Book Review ~ ‘Drake/Keir: Girl Wife Prisoner Retold’ by Hanna Peach ~ 5 Stars!

Let’s start with Drake.

Oh Drake, how misunderstood you are, how desperate for love, but so incapable of understanding how to give it. I was so excited to read Drake’s story as to me, despite everything, he is the most tragic character in this series. We see so many sides of him; the controlling, emotionally abusive husband; the man looking for a trophy wife; the employer with no redeeming qualities; a ruthless business man; and then finally, right at the last moment; a real man, who loves with his whole damaged heart, but has no idea of how to treat someone he cares for. It is heartbreaking, and so, so well done that I had tears in my eyes seeing his side of the story. We wonder what would have happened if Keir hadn’t worked at the house, if Niko and Drake could have worked out together how their marriage should work, and how he may have approached things differently if he had ever seen a relationship based on love and trust.

And then we have Keir, Keir who I love so much, who knows how to behave in love, knows what love means, and wants to be with someone, and not be the owner of them. It is the difference between Drake and Keir’s understanding that is so striking. Love for Drake is something he associates with possession, whereas Keir sees is as freedom. Keir and Noriko’s story was one that tugged on the heartstrings, and had me angry, raging, but so satisfied, as everything ended the only way it could. But in Keir’s novella we have our heart healed just a little. We see Keir’s own experience of falling in love with Noriko, we get to see the utter strength it takes for him to let his guard down, and how right the two are for each other in a whole new way. It is short, but it packs a punch, and it gives you hope that there is love after death, and maybe, just maybe your loved ones can watch over you and wish a bright future for you.

5 Stars!

“Well, well, look at that,” Ute said, staring across the street.

I followed her gaze and saw what she saw. Jonathan had on simple trousers and a sweater with a leather jacket. In contrast to the rest of the men at the party, who spent hours looking as though they didn’t care what they wore, he looked neat and put together, as if he cared. He was tall and lean and straight, with his hair brushed back off his forehead. He owned the world and everything in it. The difficulty of staying away from him was past his looks, past any single physical attribute. He fell into a new, undefined category of “right.”

I set my back straighter and tilted my chin up. I thought Debbie would send Robert, but instead I’d have to pretend I was fine and my face wasn’t pounding.

“He’s coming over here,” said Ute, brushing her hair flat.

“He’s my ride,” I said.

Her eyebrows arched.

I paused. Jonathan liked blondes, if his ex-wife was any indication. Ute was beautiful. She’d do well with him.

I thought about adding a short explanation. Maybe ‘I’m in love with him, but I left him’ or ‘he was my lover, boyfriend, master, king…’ None of it worked, and by the time I came up with ‘we were together for a while,’ he was upon us.

“Hey,” he said, and that voice went right into my gut and ripped stuff out.

CD Reiss

CD Reiss is a USA Today and Amazon bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up, she’s at the well, hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it did embed TV story structure in her head well enough for her to take a big risk on a TV series structured erotic series called Songs of Submission. It’s about a kinky billionaire hung up on his ex-wife, an ingenue singer with a wisecracking mouth; art, music and sin in the city of Los Angeles.

Critics have dubbed the books “poetic,” “literary,” and “hauntingly atmospheric,” which is flattering enough for her to put it in a bio, but embarrassing enough for her not to tell her husband, or he might think she’s some sort of braggart who’s too good to give the toilets a once-over every couple of weeks or chop a cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

Destroyed by Pepper Winters

It was the best kiss I’d ever received, but also the worst. It sparked lust and need in every inch of me. My lips wanted more, my tongue wanted savagery. My skin wanted to bruise because he needed to touch me so badly.

All my thoughts disappeared as I nipped at his bottom lip. He flinched, but a second later he copied, his sharp canines piercing my oversensitive flesh.

I moaned.

I couldn’t take it.

My hands flew up and gripped his shirt. Yanking him toward me, fireworks whizzed in my fingertips; my heart galloped toward exploding with lust. I’d never been so drunk on someone before.

Then I landed flat on my back.

The crack of my skull jangled my teeth. The thick carpet did little to cushion me. My eyes flared wide and I grunted in pain. Fear, hot and terrible, swamped my lust in a dampening wave.

“Top rule. Unbreakable rule. Don’t. Ever. Touch. Me.” Fox kneeled on one knee beside my head, breathing hard. His hand noosed my throat, pressing my spine into the carpet. His eyes were cold and lifeless, looking like a hunter intent on blood. –HAZEL

Can you introduce yourself and tell us what kind of books you write?

Sure, my name is Pepper Winters. I speak with an English accent, have been lucky enough to live in a few countries around the world, and love to write dark, twisted love stories while in my PJ’s. I’m married to a French Canadian and have a house rabbit. That’s about it. With regards to my writing, I’ve always loved getting into the heads of people. I love to twist their darkest desire and confront their greatest fear. I find it brings a much deeper story into life. However, I’m about to release a Contemporary Romance that won’t be dark and I’m enjoying writing it immensely.

What inspired you to write the book included in Take Me?

Destroyed was, and still is to this day, the hardest book I’ve had to write. It took a lot out of me. The characters didn’t behave and the plot line went in a completely different direction than the one I intended. I fought it every step—which made it incredibly hard to write. However, the book went on to hit the USA Today Bestseller, Indie Choice, and earned me a publishing deal with Grand Central (Hachette) publishing. So even though it took so much out of me, it gave back so much more.

Who is your favorite character that you’ve written and why?

My favourite character to date. That’s an exceedingly hard question. Mainly because each book I write there is something I love about each character. However, if I have to pick, I’m going to break the rules a little and choose two. Q Mercer from Monsters in the Dark Series will always have a piece of my heart. He’s so damaged but so strong. So twisted but so loyal. I loved getting into his headspace. I’m also falling for Jethro Hawk from the Indebted Series. He has a lot beneath the surface and my heart breaks for him with what he has to deal with.

What is the hardest part of writing for you?

Hardest part is my eyesight currently. Before, I could stare at a screen for 18 hours a day with no problem. Now, I have to wear glasses and they get tired very quickly. I can write very fast when I’m in the zone (up to 13,000 words a day) but unless my eyes are focusing, it’s hard. I’m lucky that I don’t really deal with writer’s block. If I do, I’ll get my notepad and pen out and do some plotting. That always helps get me back on track.

Tell us about your upcoming release!

I have a few coming out. 2015 is going to be my busiest year yet. I have Second Debt (Indebted #3) coming out on the 26th Jan, followed by Third Debt (Indebted #4), Forbidden Flaws (Contemporary Romance), Ruin & Rule (MC Romance 28th July), Fourth Debt (Indebted #5), Je suis a toi (Monsters in the Dark Novella), Final Debt (Indebted #6). Busy year! The Indebted Series are a dark romance dealing with diamonds, debts, and unwavering loyalties.

Brady Remington Landed Me In Jail

By Tijan

He was different when he was with me. If we’d been at the party, he would’ve had the hard edgy look to him. He liked his tattoos to be seen, but I saw that he had pulled a blanket to cover the tribal tattoo on his stomach. The one on his shoulder was hiding in the shadows.

“It’s not that I don’t like her. It’s just that…she’s one of them.”

“One of what?”

“You know. Your girlfriends.”

“My what?”

“Your girlfriends.” I didn’t think that I needed to spell it out. “She’s…I don’t know. She’s cool and confident and…she’s not the type of person that I’m friends with.”

“You’re friends with me.” His voice was quiet.

The air shifted again. Here we were…I knew that I needed to tread lightly, very lightly. I met his gaze, swallowed over a knot in my throat, and felt that we were talking about something different.

“You’re different. I mean…we’re not normal, Brady.”

A scowl formed at his mouth. “What are you talking about? We’re not normal?”

“You know—you’re…one of them and I’m…not.”

“That is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.” He threw himself off the bed and stalked towards me. “You are just like me. You are no different than me. You are no different from Clarissa.”

“Yeah, but…” I was pressed against the doorframe as Brady towered over me. “I’m not one of your girlfriends.”

His chest was in front of mine. Another step, just an inch, and we’d be pressed against each other. His gaze was glued to my lips. I kept looking from his eyes to his lips, but then I felt something strange wash over me when he murmured, throatily, “You’re more than that.”

I sucked in a large breath, I couldn’t let it out. I stood there, frozen in place. He skimmed the side of my face with his hand, then tucked my hair back and cupped my cheek. He moved close and slowly, so slowly, rested his forehead against mine. His breath tickled my lips. “You’re my best friend, Ray.”

My hands had lifted to his arms. I felt his muscles shift underneath my fingers and I clasped harder. I couldn’t fall.

“What are you doing?” The words wrangled out of my throat.

Brady didn’t answer. He closed his eyes and nuzzled his mouth against my temple. My hands slid from his arms to his shoulders and then behind his neck. One of his hands cupped the back of my neck where he applied pressure and arched my head back. The other hand skimmed the side of my robe. When his fingers spread out, the top of his thumb brushed underneath my breast.

“Brady, I don’t…” I couldn’t talk anymore, but I knew there was something that I needed to say. I knew it, but…

“Shhh.” His lips touched mine. They rested there, but there was no pressure, no demand from him.

Then his lips opened over mine. A surge of need rushed through me and I clasped him tight. Brady pushed me against the doorframe and he urged my leg to wrap around his waist. I couldn’t get enough of him. It was like before, but this time it was different. I knew what would happen.

I never thought I’d do this or be like this, but it was Brady.

Mari Carr

New York Times & USA Bestselling Author

Wild Irish Christmas embraces some of the same traditions I enjoy in my own family. Everyone coming together to eat, drink, open gifts and tell stories. My Wild Irish family is all grown up and married with kids of their own when the story begins. When they decide to recreate Christmas’ past for their father, Pat, the seven siblings spend the evening in the apartment where they grew up. They gather around the Christmas tree with a bottle of Jameson as Pat tells them the story of how he met their mother, Sunday.

It’s Christmas Eve, and all seven of the Collins siblings have gathered together to give their father Patrick a precious gift. Gather ’round the tree and join the Collins family as they pass a bottle of Jameson, and Patrick shares the story of how he won the heart of Sunday, his true love, his soul mate…and the mother of his seven Wild Irish.

As the bottle moved from hand to hand, they each offered up words of thanks or wishes for the New Year. When it reached Patrick, he lifted the bottle and proposed a toast he hadn’t used since the last Christmas he’d celebrated with his wife, Sunday.

“To Conall Brannagh.”

Ewan took the bottle from his father. “Who?”

“Conall Brannagh,” Patrick repeated. “If your mother had chosen him over me, none of us would be here tonight.”

Sean leaned forward, a definite gleam of interest in his eyes. “So you had some competition for Mom, eh? I never knew that.”

Keira grabbed a bag of pretzels. “I didn’t either. Was Mom in love with him?”

Teagan looked at Patrick. “I always thought you were her first love.”

Patrick smiled at his daughter. “I was her last love, Teagan. That’s a much better spot to claim. Besides, I don’t know if it’s fair to say she loved Conall, though he certainly turned the women’s heads. What’s the word you girls use for handsome men? Dreamy?”

Riley laughed. “Um…yeah, not in this decade. I definitely don’t use the word dreamy to describe Aaron.”

“Then what would you say?” Pat asked.

“He’s hot. Totally doable.”

Killian turned to look at his younger sister and shook his head. “Jesus. How are we related?”

“Dreamy works for me, Pop,” Teagan said quickly.

Patrick looked at his kids and silently marveled at how different they were. Somehow, miraculously, their unique qualities meshed perfectly, creating an amazing family.

Ewan, always the steady one, hadn’t been distracted by the asides. “So Mom thought this Conall was dreamy?”

“All the girls in Killarney thought Conall was handsome, but he only had eyes for Sunday. Not that I could blame him. Your mother was a beauty, with that long dark hair and those crystal-blue eyes. She caught every man’s attention.”

“But you didn’t fall in love with her because of her looks, right?” Keira asked.

Och, Lord no. While Sunday’s face was pleasing, it was her heart, so kind and compassionate, that I found attractive. That’s what captured me by my hand and—pardon the expression—balls and kept me holding on to her for dear life.”

“So what was the story with this Conall guy?” Tris asked.

“Well now, that is a tale.” Patrick leaned back and closed his eyes, letting his mind drift to a different place, a different time.

“I was working on my family’s sheep farm during the day while tending bar at Scully’s Pub every night. I was a young buck of twenty when Sunday, who was just nineteen, moved to Killarney to live with her aunt. Scully hired her to sing in the pub and from the first moment I laid eyes on her, I was lost…”

Mari’s Favorite Holiday Recipe

Excerpt from Deadly Pursuit by Misty Evans

Taking two steps back, she pointed the gun at his chest. “Emilio Paloma-Londano, you are under arrest by the United States government for charges relating to the organization and running of the San Diego Mafia.” She took a deep breath and one more step back as she watched Emilio’s face transform from utter confusion to pure anger. “Drop to your stomach and put your hands behind your head.”

He stood stock still, effectively refusing to lie down on the ground, but all hell broke loose around them. FBI, DEA, and local police officers emerged from the nearby lifeguard house and descended from the boardwalk. Spotlights came on, illuminating Emilio, still standing, and Celina, who managed to return her dress straps to her shoulders while never moving the gun sight from Emilio’s heart. Their eyes locked on each other and though he didn’t move or say a word, Celina felt the intensity of his hatred penetrating every cell of her body.

Special Agent Quarters came up beside her and took the Glock from her grip while she watched two police officers force Emilio face down in the sand. Within seconds, his hands were cuffed and his rights read. She stood there shaking, teeth chattering, arms crossed over her very wet, cold breasts. The officers raised Emilio back to a standing position, and again the dark eyes she knew well snapped to hers. Again she saw the depth of his anger. And then he took her by surprise.

He ignored Quarters and spoke to someone behind Celina. “Give her my jacket so she can cover herself.”

As Celina watched Emilio be led away, a soft warmth fell over her shoulders and enveloped her. Instinctively she pulled it closer, stuffed her arms into the sleeves. It was not Emilio’s jacket, but a red Billabong sweatshirt.

She smiled as she turned to face Cooper. “Thank you,” she said, forgetting the past few months of fear and manipulation the moment she saw his face.

It was a beautiful face. Not in the pretty L.A. boy actor way. Those types of faces she saw all the time and they were fake. No, Cooper’s was a rugged beauty, deeply tanned and handsome. It was the controlled face of a man who lived with danger every day for several decades.

His gaze was as serious as always as he stared down at her. “You all right?”

“Better than fine.” Now that you’re here. Every time she stood next to the DEA agent, she felt like she’d just downed a triple mocha latte with whipped cream. Warm, buzzed, and ready for seconds. “How’d I do?”

He was silent for a moment, studying her. “You went off the rez and we need to talk about that, but…you did okay, kid.”

Celina’s smile faltered. Kid? Kid? “I’m not a kid, Cooper. I’m twenty-four years old.” She held his stern gaze. “I did better than okay and you know it. I just nailed Emilio Londano.”

Said out loud, those words seemed to vibrate in the air. The moon smiled down at her and she drew her first fearless breath in months. She felt a sudden hot rush in her veins, a tingling sensation shooting through every cell of her body.

Letting her head fall back on her shoulders, she let it come, this rush of accomplishment instead of fear. It roared through her.

Laughing up at the sky, she sang out, “I did it! I arrested the Lord of the Cartel World!” She took a few steps back, staring at the sky, and held out her arms. Twirling, she let her herself enjoy the sweet tingle of relief and success racing through her body.

 Interview with Author V.K. Sykes.

What comes first, the plot or characters?

When I’m writing romantic suspense, I almost always begin with plot, but it quickly winds up being the characters who steal the show. Plot premise: A psychic vision shows a woman a murder through the killer’s eyes (she sees the victim but not the killer), and she sets out to “solve” the yet-to-happen crime in time to prevent it. Then I figure out what I need in the way of characters to serve the plot. What kind of woman would do that? What would motivate her to go that far? What kind of setting do I want? What kind of hero do I need to match her up with? And what if after I tempt her with the sexy hero, I reveal to the heroine that the would-be-victim is the hero’s ex-wife, planting a seed of doubt I her mind? What are the hero’s strengths and flaws and blind spots? How do they complement or contrast with the heroine’s? What makes her fall in love with him, and him with her? And so it goes until the plot takes a back seat as the characters come alive and start to steer the story.

By contrast, with the N.L. Wilson Dix Dodd cozy mysteries (jointly written with writing partner Heather Doherty), it’s all about character. Knowing Dix and her foibles as intimately as we do, hilarious plot ideas present themselves faster than we can write them.

When writing descriptions of your hero/ine, what feature do you start with? Eyes, hair

I like to pick a broad, general impression first. When the heroine first lays eyes on the hero, what is the thing that jumps out at her? Is he exceptionally tall? Does he have a physicality that radiates off him? Does the room feel smaller when he’s in it? Does she look beautiful, aloof and untouchable, but when she speaks, her voice is like sex on a stick, even when she’s brushing our hero off? I like to start with those broad stroke impressions, then work my way around to the more specific physical attributes. Although sometimes if they have a startling physical characteristic – his amazing eyes, her gorgeous hair – I definitely use that too.

What is the hardest part about writing for you?

The hardest part for me has always been developing usable ideas. In many ways, I’m not like most of the writers I know. I don’t have a boundless imagination. The ideas come slow and need lots of nurturing. I have also been my own worst enemy in that regard in the early part of my career. I always wanted to finish the complete story and polish it up the best I could before sharing it with anyone. I thought I was constitutionally incapable of constructive brainstorming, and instead protected and sheltered my tiny flame. But life’s too short for that! I’ve since learned to make use of the fabulous writer brains around me when I get stuck. I don’t always get the solution I’m looking for right off the bat, but I always get something out of it – maybe just a tiny nugget that leads to an eventual breakthrough. Sometimes, though, they knock it right out of the park. Love it when that happens!

Ebook or print? And why?

I will never get over my love of print books. I spent my childhood reading library books, and the smell of one can transport me right back there. But for practical purposes, digital is the way I roll now for most things. I have a few authors whose works I’ve collected in print, and will continue to collect, but I love my Kindle. I love being able to carry a whole library in my purse. I also love the price of digital books, the ease of reading while I eat, scalability of fonts so I can read without my glasses, etc.

Have you ever eaten a crayon?

Not to my knowledge. But I remember once grabbing a cup of what I thought was water off the dinner table and taking a big swig only to find it was vinegar. :::Shudder:::

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

I’ve evolved from a total pantser to a plotter. I don’t start a project now without a roadmap. It doesn’t have to be a meticulously detailed map. In fact, I think if it were too detailed, I would lose those opportunities for real magic to happen. But if I plot out the course roughly, I can have confidence that it’s going to work and I don’t waste as much time feeling my way. I still do flounder a bit between the high point’s I’ve identified—how do I get them from this key plot point to the next major one?—but it’s better than facing that where do I go now? feeling all the way through the book.

What makes you happy?

The older I get, the easier this is to do. I appreciate life more and take joy in small things, like rambling through woods and field with my dog, Chloe, or a rare quiet moment with my cat Ruckus, when she’s content to be held in my arms and purrs. Crawling into bed with fresh, line-dried sheets that carry that clean, outdoor smell. There’s no replicating that with smelly fabric softeners. A cold Rickards Red on a hot summer day, after I’ve mowed the lawn. Finishing a scene and knowing it rocks just as much as you hoped it would.

What are your favorite TV shows?

I skew toward crime dramas, but I like all sorts of shows. This list includes some shows that have long finished, and others that are more recent or current. The Wire, The Shield, Southland, Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Justified, Luther, True Detective, Hell on Wheels, Rectified, House of Cards, Six Feet Under, Supernatural, every show ever made by Joss Whedon but especially Firefly, American Horror Story, Hannibal, Game of Thrones, True Blood, Dexter, The Walking Dead, Veronica Mars, The Blacklist, Vikings, Orange is the New Black, Girls, Longmire, Call the Midwife…

By now you’re wondering where I find the time to write. LOL. I tend to save up episodes and binge watch. And alas, I am not up to date on many of these shows.

Do you write in multiple genres or just one? If just one, do you ever consider straying outside your genre?

I write in multiple genres. My solo writing encompasses romantic suspense. paranormal romance and soon contemporary romance. With writing partner Heather Doherty, I write cozy mystery, YA paranormal, and even a new adultish dystopian romance. Some of those are published and others we’re still trying to find time to publish.

If you could have one paranormal ability, what would it be?

I would love to be able to heal people and creatures with just a touch. But I’d want to be able to do it without taking on the burden of their disease or pain. Except I’m thinking that probably wouldn’t fly, would it? Because we all know there’s a price for magic… Okay, I’d take on their pain as long it wouldn’t last very long. I’m a wimp!

What is a talent you wish you had, but don’t?

I would love to be able to sing. Much as I love music, I couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket.

If you could keep a mythical/ paranormal creature as a pet, what would you have?

I would have a Griffin. Sort of a like a dragon, but smaller. Or at least mine would be smaller. And no flying in the house.

If you could apologize to someone in your past, who would it be?

I think the most important apology I could give would be to my younger self. I don’t think anyone else could possibly have been a harsher judge. That painfully shy, painfully unsophisticated kid did not deserve the judgment I heaped on her.

Is there a writer you idolize? If so who?

I have always loved and admired Anne Stuart (aka Sister Krissie, the Impeccably Demure). I am an ardent fan of her writing (all genres), and you have to hand it to her, the way she’s survived and thrived in an industry that chewed up and spat out many an author over the decades she’s been writing. She’s always been able to see the lay of the land and reinvent herself. I had the privilege once of sitting in a on a no-holds-barred session with Anne where she talked about her publishing experience, warts and all. And that was back in the day when people didn’t talk very openly about that kind of thing. And I just admire her as an outstanding human.
